i had this problem, first time it happened i pepper sprayed the little bastard but using that stuff indoors is not recommended.
a simpiler way to solve this problem is to stomp it or tosss it against the wall or use some form of physical punishment/beating ( i prefer the stomp but make sure u dont hit the head) and do this everytime they scratch. cats are dumb but none the less eventually they catch on. this can work for all different sorts of training as well
just use pepper and/or some strong spice, they hate it (usually)

When I was little my dad bought an exspensive radio ste. she killed the speakers and made my mom get her declawed. I’m getting a persian in a couple weeks. So is my brother. We’re not declawing them. I think its wong. And I bet it hurts. Their nails shouldn’t be a problem if you cut them often. kittens more often then older cats. Thaanks for posting. very helpful… cats love to use them claws!!

If thats the attitude, then why bother even attempting to keep pets? Would you shoot your dog if it chews on your shoes too?
@svtcontour no but SHOES are not expensive like a computer is and cats are disposable to me anyhow. I no longer own any. besides my dog is waaayyy smarter then a cat.

A small dog could also pee on a computer. A big dog could just bump into something and knock it over. Again, if you cant handle accidents, then just dont get any pets.
In the end, cats are lower maintenance, cheaper and do less damage in terms of monetary costs if you include possible dog bites on people as “damage”. Also most cities require people to pick up after a dog. I’m sorry but I’m not picking up dog crap. Its just easier to empty a litter box.
